Privacy Policy

Cooked is a private recipe box and a friends-only cooking feed. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

Advertising & tracking

None. No ad SDK, no analytics SDK, no third-party trackers.

Who can see your posts

Only friends you have accepted. There are no public profiles.

Selling your data

Never.

Who we are

Cooked is operated by the app's developer. Contact: cooked@hopefamilyarchive.com.

What we collect

We only collect what the app needs to work.

When you create an account

• An email address (if you sign in with Google) or a phone number (if you sign in by phone). This is handled by our authentication provider and is used to sign you in and to secure your account.
• Your date of birth. We use it once, to confirm you are at least 13. It is never shown to other users — the database explicitly forbids reading it, even for your friends.
• A username and display name, and optionally an avatar photo and a short bio.

When you use the app

• Recipes you create: titles, ingredients, steps, tags, times, servings, and any photo you attach.
• Cook stories: the photo, an optional caption, and which of your recipes it points at. Stories expire automatically 24 hours after posting.
• Your cook history: which recipe you cooked and when.
• Your social graph: friend requests, friendships, and blocks.
• Reactions you leave on friends' stories.
• Reports you file about content or people.

What we do not collect

We do not collect your location, your contacts, your financial information, or your device identifiers for advertising. We do not build advertising profiles and we do not sell data. Cooked does not read your photo library — the system photo picker hands us only the specific image you choose.

Who can see what

Cooked is friends-only by design, and this is enforced by the database, not just by the app:

• Your recipes and stories are visible to people you have accepted as friends. Recipes marked private are visible only to you.
• There are no public profiles and no follower counts. Other people can only find you by typing your exact username.
• Your date of birth and your invite code are never readable by anyone but you.
• Blocking someone immediately removes mutual visibility in both directions.

Who we share data with

We do not sell your data and we do not share it with advertisers.

We use Supabase (hosted on Amazon Web Services, US East region) to store data and run the backend. Supabase processes data on our instructions as a service provider. If you sign in with Google, Google handles that sign-in.

We may disclose information if we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to investigate a report of abuse or to protect someone's safety.

How long we keep things

• Stories expire 24 hours after posting.
• Recipes, cook history, and your profile are kept until you delete them or delete your account.
• Reported content may be retained in a moderation record after deletion, so that a report can still be reviewed. This is limited to the reported item.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete my account. This permanently removes your profile, recipes, stories, and cook history. It cannot be undone.

If you cannot access the app, request deletion here.

One thing to know: if a friend saved one of your recipes into their own library before you left, their copy stays with them. It is their recipe now, and the link back to your original is removed.

Children

Cooked is not for children under 13. We ask for your date of birth at sign-up and the server refuses to create a profile for anyone younger. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact cooked@hopefamilyarchive.com and we will remove it.

Security

Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted with HTTPS. Photos are kept in private storage buckets that require an authenticated session to read. Access to your data is enforced at the database level by row-level security rules, so a modified app still cannot read data it isn't entitled to.

No system is perfect, and we don't claim otherwise.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Deletion is available in-app immediately; for anything else, contact cooked@hopefamilyarchive.com.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top and, for anything significant, tell you in the app.
